Samsung and IOC to Revolutionize Paris 2024 Olympic Games Viewing Experience with Galaxy S24 Ultra

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya- Samsung, in collaboration with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) and Olympic Broadcasting Services (OBS), is set to transform the viewing experience of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Leveraging the advanced capabilities of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, the tech giant aims to bring fans unprecedented footage of the historic Opening Ceremony on the Seine River and the exhilarating sailing competitions.

As the Official Smartphone and Computing Equipment partner of the Olympic games, Samsung is committed to deliver closer, more intimate perspectives of these iconic events.

This initiative is part of Paris 2024’s promise to be the most open Games ever, and it also continues Samsung’s legacy of innovation in support of the Olympics.

Stephanie Choi, EVP & Head of Marketing of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics spoke about the relational aspect of the company.

“In an increasingly connected society, Samsung Galaxy mobile technology has helped deepen and transform users’ relationships with the world, wherever they are,” he stated.

“Having been a Worldwide Partner for nearly three decades, we know first-hand how important it is to create and enable the same meaningful connections at the Olympic and Paralympic Games,” he added.

A Historic Opening Ceremony

For the first time ever, the Opening Ceremony of the Olympic Games will take place outside a stadium.

Paris 2024 will see 10,500 athletes float down the Seine River in a parade of national delegation boats.

Departing from the Austerlitz bridge, the parade will cover a six-kilometer route through Paris, culminating in a grand finale at the Trocadéro.

To capture this momentous event, Samsung will install over 200 Galaxy S24 Ultra smartphones on the 85 athlete vessels.

The high-quality HDR footage will be shared and streamed via a private 5G network powered by Orange, the official mobile network provider of Paris 2024.

Orange will set up more than a dozen 5G antennas along the Seine to create France’s first-ever standalone 5G network, ensuring seamless connectivity and viewing for fans worldwide.

Sailing Competitions and Technological Challenges

Samsung’s innovative approach extends to the sailing competitions in Marseille.

Galaxy S24 Ultra devices will be installed on each competition boat, allowing fans to experience the thrill of the race alongside their favorite Olympians.

This initiative required extensive research, development, and testing to ensure video quality and connectivity performance in various weather conditions.

Leveraging the Galaxy S24 Ultra’s optical image stabilization (OIS) features, Samsung increased transmission power and installed relay towers on chase boats to guarantee a seamless livestream experience.
