CUPERTINO, California – Apple has unveiled HomeView, a voice-controlled smart display powered by its revamped Siri AI assistant, as the technology giant steps up efforts to expand its presence in the connected-home market.
The device features a seven-inch Liquid Retina touchscreen and a speaker base, combining home management, entertainment and communication in a single hub. Apple has set its starting price at $299 in the United States, with availability scheduled for November 13, 2026. Pre-orders opened on October 13.
The launch marks a renewed effort by Apple to compete with Amazon and Google in the smart home market, where rival devices powered by Alexa and Google Assistant have established a strong presence.
HomeView is designed to serve as a central control point for household activities, allowing users to manage compatible smart-home accessories, make FaceTime video calls, play music and video, and display photographs when the screen is idle.
Siri AI At The Centre Of HomeView
The new device places Siri AI, Apple’s overhauled voice assistant, at the centre of the user experience.
Powered by Apple Intelligence, the updated assistant is designed to handle more conversational requests, improve music discovery and provide information based on what appears on the screen.
When paired with a compatible Apple Intelligence-enabled device, HomeView can also draw on personal context from applications such as Messages and Calendar to provide more relevant responses.
Apple says the device can recognise household members by their faces, allowing it to personalise content such as messages, reminders and calendar entries for individual users.
The company is positioning the feature as a way to combine shared household functions with personalised experiences while maintaining privacy and security.
Siri requests can be processed on the device or through Apple’s Private Cloud Compute system, which the company says is designed to prevent personal data processed in the cloud from being stored or accessed by Apple.
Desktop And Wall-Mounted Versions
HomeView is available in a tabletop configuration with a speaker base and a separate wall-mounted version designed for locations such as hallways and entryways.
The tabletop model features an aluminium design, a stainless-steel hinge that allows the screen to tilt, and four colour options: silver, starlight, rose pink and space grey.
The wall-mounted version comes in space grey and silver. It requires a compatible mounting and power solution, with accessories sold separately.
Apple is also expanding its smart-home offering through partnerships with companies including LG Electronics and Schneider Electric, which are involved in the wider collection of connected-home products and accessories.
The broader strategy is intended to make it easier for customers to manage compatible lights, locks, thermostats and cameras through Apple’s ecosystem.
Apple Seeks To Strengthen Smart Home Position
Apple has faced challenges establishing the same level of presence in the smart-home market as Amazon and Google, despite having a large customer base through the iPhone, iPad and other devices.
The HomePod speaker range has provided Apple with an entry point into connected homes, but HomeView adds a touchscreen interface and more direct access to personal information and household controls.
Analysts see the move as an opportunity for Apple to deepen customer engagement with its ecosystem as competition in artificial intelligence expands beyond smartphones and computers to dedicated consumer devices.
The launch also comes as AI companies, including OpenAI, explore new hardware products designed to make their technologies more accessible outside traditional screens.
John Ternus Leads Apple’s Latest Product Push
HomeView is among the early major product launches under Apple chief executive John Ternus, who succeeded Tim Cook on September 1, 2026.
Ternus, a longtime Apple executive who previously led hardware engineering, takes charge as the company seeks to strengthen its artificial intelligence capabilities and identify new sources of growth beyond its established product categories.
Apple’s initial rollout covers selected markets, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, India, New Zealand and Singapore. The company has also announced availability through authorised resellers in South Africa, with sales beginning November 13.
HomeView will not initially be sold in the European Union because Siri AI is not currently available there under Apple’s announced rollout.
