NANYUKI, Kenya — Ghanaian entrepreneur and CEO of Modern Floors & Walls and Ticket Ghana Ltd., Basil David Anthony, has paid a visit to the renowned Ol Pejeta Conservancy, contributing to global conservation efforts aimed at protecting the last two remaining northern white rhinos on Earth, Najin and Fatu.
Ol Pejeta Conservancy, located in Nanyuki, Kenya, is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in wildlife conservation.
It remains the final sanctuary for Najin and Fatu, following the passing of Sudan, the last male northern white rhino.
During his visit, the Ghanian entrepreneur emphasized the importance of collective responsibility in conservation, highlighting that every visit to the conservancy directly contributes to the protection, care, and ongoing scientific efforts aimed at preserving the species.
“Standing in the presence of Najin and Fatu is both humbling and a powerful reminder of our responsibility to protect Africa’s natural heritage. Conservation is not always about large gestures; sometimes, it begins with supporting the systems already in place,” he stated.
Beyond conservation, Basil also used the visit to advocate for stronger support of African and domestic tourism, noting that increased intra-African travel plays a critical role in sustaining conservation initiatives, creating jobs, and driving local economic growth.
“As Africans, we must intentionally support African destinations. Tourism within our own continent is a powerful tool; it sustains conservation, empowers communities, and strengthens our economies,” he added.
The visit also forms part of Basil’s broader engagement across East Africa, where he continues to explore business and impact opportunities aligned with regional growth.
As part of this vision, his company, Modern Floors & Walls, is expected to expand into Kenya, reinforcing the company’s commitment to building and investing within the African market.
In addition, Basil is exploring the introduction of SEED (Student Entrepreneurship & Enterprise Development) Clubs in selected schools across Nairobi, Kenya, an initiative under the Basil David Anthony Foundation aimed at equipping young people with entrepreneurial skills while integrating awareness around sustainability and responsible leadership.
