Fire Breaks Out at Embakasi Girls’ School in Nairobi

NAIROBI, Kenya — A fire has broken out at Embakasi Girls’ School in Nairobi County, prompting swift emergency response efforts.

The Kenya Red Cross in a brief statement confirmed the incident noting that efforts to contain the blaze were underway. 

Pictures shared by the organization show thick black plumes of smoke billowing out of a storey building adjacent to the school’s play ground.

The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage were not immediately clear by the time of publication.

“Fire at Embakasi Girls’ School, Nairobi County. Efforts to contain it are under way,” the humanitarian agency posted on its official X account.

It however remains unclear where the Sunday mornung unferno may have started.

Likewise,the redcross has not discosed of any casualties.
