NAIROBI, Kenya — The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has joined millions of Kenyans in mourning former Prime Minister Raila Amollo Odinga, describing him as a visionary leader and tireless defender of justice, democracy, and human rights.
In a condolence message shared on Thursday, IPOA hailed Odinga’s lifelong dedication to advancing governance reforms and promoting accountability within state institutions.
“His legacy shaped our nation and inspired a continent,” the statement read. “IPOA extends its heartfelt condolences to Hon. Odinga’s family and all Kenyans. May his soul rest in eternal peace.”
The authority praised Odinga for his unwavering advocacy for human rights and the rule of law — values that, it said, formed the foundation of Kenya’s democratic progress.
Odinga’s passing has sparked a nationwide outpouring of grief, with institutions, leaders, and citizens celebrating his legacy as one of Kenya’s foremost champions of reform and social justice.
