NAIROBI, Kenya – In a plot twist straight out of a crime drama, authorities in Uasin Gishu County uncovered a fully operational police post—run by a civilian.
The facility, located in Cheboror, Kesses, had been painted in official Kenya Police Service colors, blending in so well that it took senior officers by surprise.

Fake Police Post Exposed
On March 8 at 11 a.m., local police bosses, acting on a tip-off, visited the site and confirmed their worst fears: an unauthorized police patrol base had been set up, completely bypassing law enforcement protocols.
The suspect, a resident of Asis Village, Ndugulu Location, had transformed a rental building into a fully-fledged police post.
He had even gone the extra mile to make it look official—down to the paint job matching Kenya Police standards.
Now, investigators are digging deeper to determine:
- How long the facility had been in operation
- Whether the suspect had accomplices within the force
- If locals were arrested and detained there
Authorities Probe the Mystery Outpost
Police are treating this as a serious security breach, given that setting up a police post isn’t as simple as slapping on a coat of paint.
Legitimate police posts require a bureaucratic approval process, including an armory, holding cells, proper staffing, and security checks.
“We are investigating to establish how long this operation has been running and whether other officers were aware of it,” a senior police officer stated.
The biggest question remains: what exactly was happening inside this “police station”—and who benefited from it?
Police in Uasin Gishu have launched investigations after a man was found to have illegally set up a police patrol base in Cherus Centre, Kesses Sub-County, without the knowledge or authorization of the National Police Service (NPS).
What Happens Next?
Authorities are now interviewing locals to determine if arrests were made at the rogue police post. If anyone was detained there, legal implications could be serious.
Meanwhile, the suspect is expected to face charges once the full details emerge.
This bizarre case has left law enforcement on high alert, reminding the public that while fake police officers aren’t unheard of, an entire fake police station is next-level deception.
