NAIROBI, Kenya – Nominated Senator Crystal Asige has appealed to the Kenyan government to immediately begin evacuating its citizens from Iran and Israel as military tensions between the two countries continue to intensify.
In a statement shared on her social media platforms, Asige raised concern over the safety of Kenyans living and working in the volatile region, urging the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to act swiftly in coordinating evacuation efforts.
“With military strikes said to escalate, the Indian and UAE Embassies in Iran have successfully evacuated thousands of their nationals back home to safety,” Asige wrote. “We call for our government to work with Iran and Israel to support the immediate evacuation of Kenyan nationals in the region. May peace and justice prevail.”

Her appeal comes amid rising regional instability after the United States bombed multiple Iranian nuclear facilities over the weekend, prompting retaliatory threats from Tehran.
Iran and Israel have since exchanged direct missile strikes, marking one of the most dangerous escalations in the Middle East in recent years.
While several countries, including India, the United Arab Emirates, and the Philippines, have already launched emergency repatriation operations, Kenya has yet to publicly confirm whether it has begun a similar process.
Asige’s call has drawn attention to the vulnerability of Kenyan expatriates—many of whom work in construction, hospitality, and domestic service sectors in the Gulf and broader Middle East.
The situation in both Israel and Iran remains unpredictable, with airspace restrictions, fuel shortages, and damaged infrastructure making evacuation logistics increasingly complicated.
Senator Asige emphasized the need for proactive diplomacy and coordination with international allies.
