Ombudsman Reports Temporary Email Outage Amid Postal Strike

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — The Commission on Administrative Justice (CAJ), also known as the Office of the Ombudsman, has announced a temporary disruption of its primary communication systems, including email services, due to technical difficulties.

In a public notice issued on Monday, November 3, 2025, the Commission said its email system was currently inaccessible, affecting its ability to send or receive correspondence, including the submission of new complaints and responses to ongoing cases.

“Our technical team, in conjunction with our service provider, Konza, is working to resolve the issue and restore normal service as quickly as possible,” the statement read.

The Ombudsman further noted that alternative postal communication through Posta Kenya remains unavailable due to an ongoing postal workers’ strike, which has hindered mail delivery services nationwide.

Despite the disruptions, the CAJ assured the public that its offices remain reachable through telephone lines across all regional branches for urgent matters.

“We sincerely regret any inconvenience these service disruptions may cause and thank you for your continued patience and understanding as we work to restore full services,” the Commission stated.

The affected offices include the CAJ headquarters in Nairobi and regional branches in Kisumu, Mombasa, Eldoret, Isiolo, Nyahururu, Garissa, Meru, and Makueni.

The disruption comes at a time when public oversight bodies are increasingly relying on digital systems for citizen engagement, complaint processing, and inter-agency coordination — a shift that highlights the growing impact of infrastructure or labor disruptions on public service delivery.
