Prime Cabinet Secretary Mudavadi Hosts New Chinese Ambassador

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has hosted the newly appointed Chinese Ambassador to Kenya, H.E. Guo Haiyan, during her courtesy visit to his office.

The two discussed various issues that will help the two countries enhance bilateral cooperation in several sectors, including education, ICT, political stability, security, infrastructure, climate change, energy, peace, and governance.

Ambassador Guo noted that China was committed to helping Kenya achieve its development agenda, mainly by providing financial support for various critical infrastructure projects.

Some of these projects include the expansion of the Nairobi-Nakuru-Malaba road network under the Belt and Road Initiative and the extension of the Standard Gauge Railway from Naivasha to the Malaba border.

Ambassador Guo took over from Ambassador Zhou Pingjian, whose four-year tenure ended last year.

She is the 18th ambassador since Kenya and China established diplomatic relations over 61 years ago.
