NAIROBI, Kenya – Britam Asset Managers has launched two Special Funds targeting Kenyan investors seeking access to global markets and diversified investment opportunities.
The products are the USD-denominated Enhanced Global Equities Special Fund and the Kenyan shilling-denominated Multi-Asset Special Fund.
Speaking during the launch on Thursday, October 8, 2026, Britam Asset Managers CEO Barack Obatsa said the global equities fund gives investors access to companies operating in technology, innovation and other major sectors of the global economy.
“The Global Enhanced Equities Fund gives investors access to shares in companies shaping the global economy. It offers an opportunity to own a stake in businesses behind some of the products and technologies we use every day,” Obatsa said.
The fund’s featured holdings include Tesla, Nvidia, Microsoft, Amazon, Alphabet, Apple, Meta, Netflix and Adobe, among other global companies.
Britam Targets Global Investment Access
Britam Group Managing Director and CEO Tom Gitogo said the fund was designed to give African investors an opportunity to participate directly in companies driving the global economy.
“Every day, Africans participate in the global economy as consumers, businesses and users of technology created around the world. We believe they should also have the opportunity to become investors in the companies driving that economy, own a stake in their growth and share in the value they create,” Gitogo said.
The USD-denominated fund provides Kenyan investors with exposure to global equities through a portfolio focused on international companies.
Multi-Asset Fund Requires Sh500,000 Minimum
The second product, the Multi-Asset Special Fund, is denominated in Kenyan shillings and combines local and global equities and exchange-traded funds with fixed-income securities, commodities and alternative investments.
Britam said investors require a minimum initial investment of Sh500,000, while subsequent top-ups start at Sh250,000.
The fund has a six-month lock-in period and is designed for investors with an investment horizon of between three and five years.
Britam said the fund also uses foreign exchange strategies to manage exposure to movements in the Kenyan shilling.
The product is structured as a leveraged strategy, meaning it can use borrowing to increase market exposure. This can also increase the level of investment risk.
Britam Emphasises Risk Management
Obatsa said Britam would rely on research, investment selection, governance and disciplined risk management in managing the funds.
“As an investment manager, we bring research, careful selection, and strong governance, as well as disciplined risk management. We continuously assess whether each investment still earns its place in the portfolio,” he said.
He said investors should consider their individual risk tolerance and investment horizon before committing funds.
“These are long-term investments, and the right choice depends on each investor’s risk tolerance and the time horizon for that individual investor,” Obatsa added.
The launch expands Britam Asset Managers’ range of investment products as Kenyan investors increasingly seek opportunities beyond traditional local asset classes.
