NAIROBI, Kenya — NCBA Group has added private motor insurance to its LOOP app, allowing customers to complete key insurance transactions digitally without relying on multiple physical or manual processes.
The service was developed by LOOP Digital Financial Services (LOOP DFS) and NCBA Insurance and is available to eligible customers with valid motor vehicle logbooks.
The new feature allows users to compare insurance quotes, select a suitable policy, make purchases and renew existing cover through the app.
Three motor insurance options available
Customers can choose from three motor insurance products available through the LOOP platform.
The first is Third Party Cover, which provides protection against liability arising from injury to third parties or damage to their property.
The second option is Standard Comprehensive Cover, which includes third-party protection while also covering the insured vehicle against risks including accidents, theft and fire.
The third option is Premier Comprehensive Cover, which provides the benefits available under standard comprehensive insurance together with additional services.
The range gives motorists different coverage options depending on their insurance needs.
Customers can buy and renew policies digitally
NCBA said eligible customers can complete the private motor insurance journey within the LOOP app.
The platform allows customers to compare quotes, purchase or renew policies and access policy documents, reducing the need for separate interactions during the insurance process.
The service is available to customers who meet the eligibility requirements and have valid vehicle logbooks.
NCBA: Digital service reduces paperwork
NCBA Insurance Managing Director and CEO Stella Njung’e said the new service was designed to simplify motor insurance for customers.
“By enabling customers to complete the entire private motor insurance journey within the LOOP App, we are simplifying a process that has traditionally required multiple touchpoints and significant paperwork,” Njung’e said.
The move forms part of NCBA’s wider use of digital platforms to deliver financial and insurance services.
By moving more of the insurance process onto the app, customers can manage their policies from a single digital platform.
NCBA targets wider insurance access
The insurer said the digital motor insurance service could help improve access to insurance in Kenya.
Kenya’s insurance penetration remains relatively low, with the company putting the rate at about 2.4 per cent.
The digital distribution of insurance products is expected to make it easier for customers to compare available options and complete transactions without visiting a physical branch or insurance office.
