NAIROBI, Kenya — VON has unveiled a new range of smart home appliances and extended its standard warranty from one year to 24 months across its portfolio, excluding commercial products.
The new warranty takes effect on October 1, 2026, and will cover all VON products, not just the newly launched appliances.
The company made the announcement on Wednesday during VON Tech Day at Sarit Expo Centre in Nairobi, marking the start of VON Month 2026 under the campaign theme “Living Smarter, the New Wave.”
New Appliances Bring AI And Connectivity
The new range spans cooking, refrigeration, laundry and cooling, with products incorporating artificial intelligence, Wi-Fi connectivity, voice control, inverter technology and multifunctional features.
Among the products unveiled is the VON SmartWash Washer-Dryer Stack, which uses AI to detect laundry loads, select washing programmes and automatically dose detergent.
The VON Inverter Air Conditioner features Wi-Fi connectivity, AI voice control, I FEEL temperature sensing and self-cleaning technology.
VON also launched a 5-in-1 Convection Microwave combining microwave cooking, baking, grilling, air frying and steaming. The appliance has 52 auto-cook menus, digital touch controls and a self-cleaning function.
Refrigeration And Cooking Range Expanded
The refrigeration range includes a four-door slot-in refrigerator with an 80-litre convertible compartment that can be switched between refrigerator and freezer functions.
The model also features Metal Cooling and Eco, Smart and Holiday modes.
Other new refrigerators include bottom-mount and top-mount models fitted with inverter compressors. The bottom-mount model carries a four-star EPRA energy rating.
The cooking range includes Professional and Premium Cookers fitted with SABAF and wok burners, fan-assisted ovens and flame-failure protection.
VON is also introducing a five-burner gas hob, a Smart Cooker Hood with a 700 cubic metre-per-hour extraction capacity and hob-to-hood connectivity, as well as a 115-litre Built-In Digital Oven offering 10 cooking modes, including air frying.
VON Extends Warranty To Two Years
The company said the warranty extension reflects improvements in product quality and reliability.
According to VON, four to five products out of every 100 returned within the warranty period four years ago, compared with fewer than two today.
“VON is different. VON is ours. It was born from a simple question: what if we took decades of learning and used them to design products around what African consumers genuinely value?” said Ravi Kanani, Chief Executive Officer of Hotpoint Appliances Ltd.
Kanani said the company was positioning VON as a technology and consumer brand rather than solely as an affordable appliance brand.
The 24-month warranty is separate from model-specific 10-year compressor or motor warranties, which will continue to apply to the specified components.
Local Assembly To Begin In November
VON said it will begin assembling its cookers locally in Kenya from November 2026 on a new completely knocked-down (CKD) cooker assembly line.
“VON was born in Kenya. Our ambition is for it to be built in Kenya and loved across Africa,” Kanani said.
The company launched its Africa 2030 strategy in 2025 as part of efforts to expand the brand across the continent.
VON said it is currently present in eight African countries and reaches approximately 30,000 homes each month.
New Brand Store Planned For Nairobi
VON also launched a new website and announced plans to open its first dedicated VON brand store by the end of October at Nairobi Mega Mall along Uhuru Highway.
Customers can also purchase VON products through retail partners including Naivas, Quickmart and Carrefour, as well as export and business-to-business partners.
VON Month will run throughout October, featuring Kenyan creators across six categories: Tech, Kitchen, Home, Youth, Business and African Lifestyle.
“Every product in the New Wave was chosen to solve a real, everyday need,” said Raj Kanani, Commercial Director at Hotpoint Appliances Ltd.
He described the new portfolio as the company’s most comprehensive VON range yet, backed by the extended 24-month warranty.
