LONDON, United Kingdom – British actor and filmmaker Noel Clarke has pleaded not guilty to six sexual offences involving five women, setting the stage for further court proceedings in a case stemming from a Metropolitan Police investigation.
The 50-year-old appeared at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, October 21, where he entered not guilty pleas to two counts of sexual assault, three counts of voyeurism and one count of exposure.
The alleged offences are said to have occurred between 2007 and 2016. Clarke was granted bail and is scheduled to appear at Southwark Crown Court on November 18.
Investigation Began in 2025
The charges were authorised by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) in September 2026 after detectives submitted evidence gathered during an investigation that began in September 2025.
The CPS said its decision to prosecute followed an assessment of the evidence and the public interest in bringing the case to court.
Authorities have confirmed that the allegations relate to five women and cover a period of nearly a decade. The proceedings are active, and Clarke is entitled to a fair trial.
Actor Known for Doctor Who and Kidulthood
Clarke is widely recognised for playing Mickey Smith in the British science-fiction television series Doctor Who.
He also established a profile as a writer, director and actor through the films Kidulthood, Adulthood and Brotherhood, which explore the experiences of young people in urban Britain.
His court appearance marks a new stage in the criminal proceedings against him following years of public controversy surrounding allegations of sexual misconduct.
In 2025, Clarke lost a libel case against Guardian News & Media over its reporting of sexual misconduct allegations. The criminal charges announced in September 2026 are the subject of separate proceedings.
Clarke denies the six criminal charges. The case is due to proceed at Southwark Crown Court on November 18, where further steps in the legal process are expected.
