Musician Willy Paul has added another milestone to his music career after becoming the first Kenyan artist to receive three platinum record plaques, marking a historic moment for the country’s music industry.
The singer announced the achievement on Monday, July 6, revealing that his music catalogue has surpassed 150 million streams across digital platforms. The milestone also earned him gold and silver certifications, making it one of the biggest recognitions of his career.
Sharing the news with fans on social media, the “Beyond Gifted” hitmaker reflected on the journey that led to the achievement.
“They told me it couldn’t be done, but look who is rewriting history! I am officially the FIRST artist in Kenya to receive a Platinum Record Plaque! Not one, but three. But we didn’t stop there; we also brought home the Gold and the Silver plaques!” he wrote.
The musician described the recognition as the result of years of consistency, determination and support from fans who have streamed his music across multiple platforms.
According to Willy Paul, crossing the 150 million streaming mark triggered the certifications, placing him in a new league among Kenya’s most commercially successful digital artists.
He also took a moment to thank his supporters for helping him achieve what he described as a historic feat.
“God’s grace and pure hard work. When you are chosen, you are chosen. To my fans, we are making history together!” he added.
The recognition caps off what has been a remarkable period for the singer, who has enjoyed strong digital growth in recent months.
Just days before receiving the plaques, Willy Paul celebrated another streaming milestone after his latest album, Beyond Gifted, generated more than 20 million streams in a single day following its release on June 30, 2026.
The latest recognition also builds on the momentum he gathered in 2025 when Boomplay named him its Most Streamed Male Artist.
Throughout his career, Willy Paul has remained one of Kenya’s most talked-about musicians. Since breaking into the industry over a decade ago, he has released dozens of hit songs spanning gospel, Afro-pop and contemporary African sounds.
