NAIROBI, Kenya – Congolese rumba superstar Fally Ipupa has arrived in Nairobi ahead of his highly anticipated concert at Uhuru Gardens on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
The celebrated musician touched down in Kenya ahead of a major live show that will bring together some of Africa’s biggest contemporary music stars and popular Kenyan performers.
The concert will begin at 3 pm on Saturday and run until 3 am on Sunday, giving fans several hours of live entertainment at Uhuru Gardens along Langata Road.
Ipupa will headline the event, which organisers have positioned as a major celebration of African music.
The Congolese singer will share the stage with a diverse lineup featuring South African Amapiano star Kamo Mphela and celebrated DJ and producer DJ Maphorisa.
The show will also feature Nomfundo Khumalo, Tango Supreme, Joe Mfalme, DJ Ice and Kodong Klan.
The combination of Congolese rumba, South African Amapiano and Kenyan urban sounds is expected to give the concert a distinctly pan-African character.
For Ipupa, the Nairobi performance will provide another opportunity to connect with a Kenyan audience that has followed his music for years.
The singer has developed a strong fan base in Kenya through his blend of traditional Congolese sounds with modern African pop and international influences.
The Congolese star has performed in the country on several occasions, building a reputation as one of the international African acts with a strong following among Kenyan music fans.
His relationship with the Kenyan audience stretches back years, with his performances attracting fans of Congolese rumba and the wider African music scene.
One of his notable Nairobi appearances came during the Walker Town Concert at Uhuru Gardens in September 2023, where he performed alongside Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage, Kenyan musician Nyashinski and South African duo TxC.
Ipupa has also previously performed at other major entertainment events in Nairobi.
The concert is being organised by Hams Prod, in partnership with TRACE, including TRACE Eastern Africa and its streaming platform TRACE+. TRACE has been actively promoting the concert and has announced several of the artists who will join Ipupa on stage.
The event’s ticketing partners include TicketYetu and TicketSasa, where fans can purchase tickets in different categories.
The singer has enjoyed a career spanning more than two decades, first gaining prominence through his work with Congolese musical group Quartier Latin International before launching his solo career.
He released his debut solo album, Droit Chemin, in 2006 and subsequently established himself as one of the leading figures in modern Congolese music.
His catalogue combines rumba, soukous, ndombolo and contemporary African pop. His live shows are also known for elaborate performances, dancing and extended musical sets, making him a major draw for concert audiences.
