NAIROBI, Kenya- Internet personality Elsa Majimbo is taking the high road amid ongoing chatter of alleged drug use and “lost spark.”
In a video, the comedian-cum-film director slammed the allegation noting that her close friends can verify that she does not indulge in alcohol.
She argued it is unfair to assume she is on drugs or has lost her spark simply because she has chosen a different path than the one that made her famous.
“A lot of you have formed a parasocial relationship with me. The first thing I want to talk about is this rumor that has been going round that I do drugs. I don’t know who started that rumor, I don’t know why they started it, I don’t know what gave them the impression. I’ve said this so many times and I’ll say it multiple times and even its known in Hollywood that I do not drink,” she clarified.
“It is not a fair judgement to put on someone just because I don’t come on the internet and laugh everyday doesn’t mean I’m on drugs it just means I don’t want to be on the internet and I don’t want to laugh every single day just to make you happy.”
Majimbo said her new job title as a film director was inspired by her decision to being behind the camera not in front unlike how her fans know her.
She says she started making money while still a teenager and now that she is grown she is a bit calm and she doesn’t want to be in people’s faces screaming; “I’m richer that you.”
“I’m more used to the rich life now so I’m more quiet. I’m also private now not because I want to be mysterious it’s just because I’ve been in the spotlight for a really long time,” Elsa stated.
The 24-year-old is hopeful of transforming the film industry in Hollywood where she now terms home.
“I’m business savvy and I’m now making films because I love Hollywood. This is my home. I really found who I was here. I’ve been living in LA now for five years and this place may turn me from a girl to a woman. I think I can really do something in the film space that will revolutionize the space.”
