Ahmednasir Questions Raymond Omollo’s Priorities as Security Concerns Mount

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – Senior Counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has publicly criticized Interior Principal Secretary Raymond Omollo, accusing him of focusing on showcasing government infrastructure projects instead of addressing growing security concerns affecting Kenyans.

In a strongly worded statement shared on social media, Ahmednasir questioned why the PS frequently posts about roads, stadiums and other development projects associated with the Kenya Kwanza administration despite his mandate being centered on internal security and border management.

The lawyer argued that while the government deserves recognition for infrastructure development under President William Ruto, such projects do not fall under Omollo’s docket.

“Roads and other infrastructure aren’t Dr. Omollo’s docket. He is in charge of law and border… to make our streets and neighbourhoods safe and secure,” Ahmednasir stated.

The outspoken lawyer claimed that the Principal Secretary rarely communicates about issues directly linked to public safety, despite increasing concerns over crime in Nairobi and other urban centres.

Abdullahi specifically pointed to the growing menace of criminal gangs operating on motorcycles, alleging that some boda boda riders have become involved in robberies and violent crimes across the city.

He cited the recent Westlands incident as an example of what he described as a deteriorating security situation, arguing that such cases are becoming increasingly common.

“Strangely, you will never see Dr. Omollo post anything meaningful on matters relating to the welfare and security of the citizenry,” he said.

The remarks come amid ongoing public debate over security in major urban centres, where residents have raised concerns over muggings, phone snatching and attacks linked to criminals using motorcycles to evade arrest.

Abdullahi further urged the Interior PS to leave matters relating to roads and sports infrastructure to Cabinet Secretaries responsible for those sectors and instead focus on his core responsibilities.

“So, Dr. Omollo please, leave matters of roads and stadiums to CS Chirchir and CS Mvurya… when will you address the work you are employed and paid for?” he posed.
