NAIROBI, Kenya- A public exchange has erupted between lawyer Ahmednasir Abdullahi and Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi after the Senior Counsel criticised the lawmaker’s communication style in reaction to a video shared by the legislator.
The exchange began after the lawyer responded to a video by Sudi, saying the MP’s message was difficult to understand and calling for more sober political communication.
In his post, Abdullahi wrote: “You can listen to Hon Sudi and get zero of what he is trying to communicate, despite his best effort…for he rarely says something that captures the attention of anyone who attained class 8 education. We need sober, mature leaders not ranting rabble-rousers.”
The remarks prompted a response from Sudi, who accused Ahmednasir of seeking attention and questioned why the lawyer was engaging him publicly.
Sudi also made allegations about the lawyer’s past legal and political activities, while accusing him of attempting to draw him into what he termed unnecessary public exchanges.
The Kapseret MP further claimed that Ahmednasir’s political sympathies were aligned with former Deputy President and DCP leader Rigathi Gachagua.
The lawyer later responded with another post defending his comments and explaining his approach when addressing political figures with different educational and social backgrounds.
He said he addresses leaders based on their level of understanding and cited his interactions with various communities as an example of adapting communication to ensure messages are understood.
He described Sudi and his herders in Bangal as “smart, good and decent men,” arguing that limited access to formal education should not be used to demean individuals.
The lawyer said society has a responsibility to simplify complex ideas and communicate effectively with people from different backgrounds.
The exchange between the two has attracted attention online, with both Ahmednasir and Sudi being known supporters of President William Ruto.
The two have previously defended the Kenya Kwanza administration on various political issues, making their public disagreement notable among political observers.
