NAIROBI, Kenya- President William Ruto has met Members of Parliament from Turkana County and pledged to accelerate the implementation of key development projects aimed at improving livelihoods and unlocking the region’s economic potential.
In a statement issued after the meeting, President Ruto said Turkana County is endowed with vast natural resources and significant economic potential that should benefit both local residents and the country.
The President said he had agreed with the county’s leaders to fast-track the completion of several ongoing projects across Turkana.
The projects include the Affordable Housing Programme, construction of student hostels, modern markets, fishing infrastructure, as well as road and water development initiatives.
“We have agreed with the leaders from the county to accelerate the completion of ongoing development projects, including affordable housing, student hostels, modern markets, fishing infrastructure, and road and water development,” Ruto said.
The Head of State also emphasized the importance of security, peace and social cohesion in supporting development and investment in the county.
According to the President, maintaining stability will be critical in unlocking Turkana’s economic potential and creating opportunities for residents.
“Security, peace and cohesion remain critical enablers in unlocking Turkana’s full potential and creating opportunities for its people,” he said.
The meeting brought together Members of Parliament from Turkana County to discuss the county’s development priorities and ongoing government programmes.
President Ruto said the discussions also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive development and improving the livelihoods of Turkana residents through continued investment in infrastructure and public services.
The meeting forms part of the government’s ongoing engagements with leaders from different counties to review development priorities and the implementation of national projects.
