NAIROBI, Kenya — Lawyer Angela Mulwa and her co-accused, Nelson Masiga, have been charged at the Mavoko Law Courts over the alleged theft of a Range Rover Sport valued at Sh15 million.
The two appeared before the court on Wednesday and denied all the charges against them.
Mulwa and Masiga face a charge of stealing a motor vehicle belonging to the Africa Institute of Mental and Brain Health, as well as a separate charge of conspiracy to commit a felony.
According to the charge sheet, the two allegedly stole the Range Rover Sport on February 12, 2026, at Mlolongo in Machakos County.
“On February 12, 2026 at Mlolongo within Machakos County with others not before court stole a motor vehicle Range Rover Sport valued at Sh15 million, property of Africa Institute of Mental and Brain Health which was parked at the homestead of Professor David Musyimi Ndetei, a director of the said institute,” the charge reads.
The prosecution alleges that the vehicle belonged to the Africa Institute of Mental and Brain Health and had been parked at the residence of Professor David Musyimi Ndetei, a director of the institution.
Alternative charge of handling stolen property
Mulwa and Masiga also face an alternative charge of handling stolen property.
Prosecutors further allege that they knew or had reason to believe that the vehicle had been stolen.
The alternative charge will arise for consideration if the court does not find the accused guilty of the principal theft charge, in accordance with the applicable criminal procedure.
Accused face malicious damage charge
The two also face a separate charge of malicious damage to property.
They are accused of damaging a house valued at Sh56 million, which the prosecution alleges belongs to Professor David Musyimi Ndetei.
Mulwa and Masiga denied the allegations when the charges were read to them and pleaded not guilty.
Court orders pre-bail report
The court directed that a pre-bail report be prepared before determining whether the two should be released on bail or bond.
The report will provide the court with information to assist it in determining the appropriate terms, if any, under which the accused may be released pending trial.
In the meantime, Mulwa and Masiga were ordered to remain in custody pending their next court appearance.
The case will be mentioned on September 9, 2026, for further directions.
