NAIROBI, Kenya — The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched a manhunt for Elizaphan Mayenga Michira, who is wanted in connection with allegations of obtaining money by false pretences from job seekers promised employment and travel opportunities in Canada.
The DCI said Michira allegedly posed as a person capable of facilitating overseas employment, targeting applicants with promises of jobs including nurse aides, storekeepers and truck drivers.
According to detectives, the suspect demanded substantial amounts of money from prospective applicants, allegedly claiming the funds would cover visa processing, medical examinations, biometric registration and air travel.
DCI Says Suspect Presented Fraudulent Documents
The DCI said investigations established that some of the documents and travel arrangements presented to complainants were fraudulent.
The agency said Michira subsequently went into hiding as detectives intensified efforts to locate and arrest him.
The case has been registered at the Milimani Law Courts under CR No. 011/14/2026 and Criminal Case No. E223/2026.
A warrant of arrest has been issued against Michira and remains in force, according to the DCI.
Michira Remains at Large
The DCI said Michira is currently at large and urged members of the public to provide information that could help detectives establish his whereabouts.

The DCI also released a photograph of Michira as part of the appeal for information leading to his arrest.
