NAIROBI, Kenya- DCP Party Leader Rigathi Gachagua has sustained his criticism of William Ruto, accusing the President of neglecting the Maa community.
Speaking during the second day of his tour of Kajiado County, the former Deputy President said there were no visible government projects in the Maa region, despite what he described as overwhelming support for Ruto in the 2022 elections.
Gachagua further claimed that the President has been launching projects without allocated budgets, misleading residents about development efforts in the area.
He also accused Ruto of dishonesty, alleging that their political fallout stemmed from what he termed a pattern of lies, as well as the killings of Gen Z protesters.
“Three things; killing our young people the GenZs, concomitant lies and blatant stealing and looting of public and private property. This triad of injustice broke my faith and relationship with this egocentric government. I could not accept; I could not tolerate; I couldn’t accept at all. That was and remains my position,” he said.
The DCP leader went on to claim that the President has become increasingly isolated, forcing him to seek political support from his traditional strongholds.
Gachagua, however, pledged to restore the dignity of the Maa community if elected president, arguing that the current administration has shortchanged the region.
He urged residents to preserve and uphold their culture and traditions, describing this as key to their future.
Several leaders, including Deputy Party Leader Cleophas Malala attended the tour.
Gachagua is expected to conclude his three-day tour of Kajiado by attending a church service at PCEA Ilasit, before holding rallies in Kajiado South, including Ilasit, Kimana and Isinet towns.
