NAROK EAST, Kenya- Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has called for a change of administration as Kenya marks exactly one year to the August 10, 2027 General Election.
Gachagua was speaking on Monday during a political rally at Nairakia-Enkare town in Narok East Constituency, Narok County, where he addressed thousands of residents as he stepped up his mobilisation ahead of the 2027 polls.
“Today is exactly one year to the General Election. We must do what we must do to change the administration for the betterment of our country,” Gachagua said.
He urged Kenyans to be deliberate about the choice they make in the 2027 election, saying the country should not continue operating without a clear direction.
“We cannot remain on autopilot,” he said.
Gachagua said the coming election year would require political leaders to travel across the country and engage citizens on the need for what he described as meaningful change in leadership.
“As we enter an election year, we have no choice but to travel to every corner of our country to unite all Kenyans in pursuit of meaningful change in leadership,” he said.
He said August 10, 2027, would present Kenyans with an opportunity to make what he described as an important decision about the country’s leadership.
“On August 10th, 2027, exactly one year from today—Kenya must be decisive and intentional in making the most important decision of their lives: a change of administration,” Gachagua said.
The DCP leader said the country should instead pursue a new direction based on what he described as honesty, practicality and people-centred development.
“Our nation cannot afford to operate on autopilot, driven by short-term hope or guesswork,” he said.
“Instead, we must embark on a new chapter founded on honesty, practicality, and people-centered development.”
Gachagua says Narok residents want change
During the rally, Gachagua said residents of Narok East had expressed support for his call for political change.
“I engaged with the great people of Narok East Constituency in Narok County at Nairakia-Enkare town,” he said.
“Like many Kenyans across the country, the people of Narok County have told us: they are ready for change!”
Gachagua thanked residents for attending the rally and participating in the political engagement.
“Asanteni sana, Narok East. Asheng Oleng,” he said.
The rally forms part of Gachagua’s ongoing mobilisation of support for DCP ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The former Deputy President has been holding political meetings and rallies in different parts of the country as he seeks to expand DCP’s support beyond its traditional political base.
His Narok East appearance comes as political parties and movements intensify grassroots mobilisation with one year remaining before the General Election.
The 2027 election will be held on August 10 and will determine the President, Members of Parliament, governors, senators and Members of County Assemblies, among other elective positions.
Gachagua has positioned DCP within the opposition and has been advocating for a change of administration in the next election.
