Power Alert: Kenya Power Schedules Outages Across Seven Counties on May 14

NAIROBI, Kenya- Kenya Power has announced scheduled power interruptions across seven counties on Wednesday, May 14, as part of the company’s regular system maintenance program.

Residents and businesses in Nairobi, Mombasa, Nandi, Bungoma, Siaya, Nyeri, and Kiambu counties should prepare for outages lasting from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, though specific timing may vary by location.

Areas Affected by County

NAIROBI COUNTY (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) The capital will see interruptions in Ngando, Chief Camp, Toyota, Showground, and parts of Jamuhuri and Dagoretti Corner. Also affected will be Mama Wahu Road, Gando Catholic Church, Atlanta Ground, Jamuhuri CITAM Church, and Nairobi City Council Houses East.

MOMBASA COUNTY (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) Coastal interruptions will impact Bohora Flats, Sheikh Khalifa Secondary School, NITA, and surrounding areas.

NANDI COUNTY (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) Residents of Kipyesh, Kurgung, Tulwo, Kimungoror, Chepterwai, Kamason, and Kamobo should expect service disruptions.

BUNGOMA COUNTY (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) Power will be interrupted in Chebwai, Matete, Pan Africa Chemicals, Sango, Chabadiah, and Kaburengu.

SIAYA COUNTY (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) Affected areas include Mbaga Mission, Bishop Okoth Mbaga Girls, Hawinga, Mwer, Boro Market, Kodiere, Pisoko, Rabar Market, and Sidundo.

NYERI COUNTY (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) The interruption will affect multiple villages including Ngandu, Kiamaina, Kiawanduha, Thangathi, Giakomu, and Unjiru, along with local schools, markets, and telecommunications infrastructure.

KIAMBU COUNTY (9:00 AM – 5:00 PM) Outages will impact St. Mulumba Hospital, several industries including Kevian, Chania Feeds, Capwell, and Kenya Nut, as well as Gretsa University, Kiandutu Police Station, and Phase 13.

Kenya Power emphasized that these planned interruptions are essential for maintaining system reliability and preventing unplanned outages.

Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to make necessary arrangements ahead of time.
