SHA Appoints 23 New Assistant Directors in Ongoing Expansion Drive

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — The Social Health Authority (SHA) has appointed 23 new Assistant Directors as part of its continuing efforts to strengthen its management structure and enhance operational efficiency across departments.

In a statement issued on Friday, October 31, SHA Board Chairperson Dr. Abdi Mohamed said the appointments followed a competitive and transparent recruitment process that began on July 25, 2025, marking a key milestone in the authority’s nationwide rollout of the new health financing framework.

“The Social Health Authority (SHA) Board is pleased to announce the appointment of twenty-three new Assistant Directors. These significant appointments follow a competitive and transparent recruitment process that began on 25th July, 2025,” Dr. Mohamed stated.

The new appointees will take up senior roles in key directorates, including legal services, registration and compliance, finance, fund management, human resources, and information technology.

Among those appointed are Rose Nakhungu Nandasaba (Assistant Director, Legal Services), Adow Osman Ahmed (Assistant Director, Registration and Compliance), and Moindi Kevin Omai (Assistant Director, Supply Chain Management).

In the Fund Management Department, Kennedy Kirichu Ndegwa and Samira Swaleh will serve as Assistant Directors, while Irene Jepngetich Rono and Mohamed Elmi have been appointed to the Finance and Accounts division.

Callista Kendi Omwenga and Timothy Musyoka Malusi have been named Assistant Directors for Administration, with Khadija Ali Juma and Maureen Cherwon taking charge of Human Resource Management and Development. Brian Muriithi Mugambi assumes the role of Assistant Director for Customer Experience.

In the technology and compliance units, Julius Kiamba Muli will lead as Assistant Director for ICT, while Fardosa Abdi Ali and Gilbert Mogambi Osoro will oversee Registration and Compliance. Julia Ouko joins as Assistant Director for Provider Management.

The Internal Audit department will be bolstered by James Tama Musyoka, Irene Akinyi Ng’ong’a, and Samson Nthei Mutuku, all appointed as Assistant Directors.

Dr. Mohamed said the appointments are intended to “inject a wealth of experience into the Authority’s ranks,” noting that the new leadership will be instrumental in enhancing service delivery as SHA scales up its national rollout under the Social Health Insurance Act, 2023.

The move comes as SHA embarks on a large-scale recruitment exercise across its departments. Earlier this week, the Authority announced over 200 vacancies spanning grades A to C, including positions for Assistant Directors, legal officers, ICT specialists, finance officers, and administrative staff.

The latest recruitment drive also features 54 Officer Administrator II positions and 53 Driver II roles, reflecting SHA’s commitment to expanding both technical and support capacity.

Applicants have until November 18, 2025, to submit their applications through the Authority’s official portal — https://recruitment.sha.go.ke — and must meet Chapter Six integrity requirements of the Constitution.

SHA’s staffing expansion signals the government’s ongoing efforts to operationalize the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) framework and improve access to quality healthcare services nationwide.
