Kamene Goro Opens Up on Terrifying Health Scare That Left Her in ICU for Days

Media personality Kamene Goro has shared details of the terrifying health crisis that left her in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) for days and forced doctors to perform emergency surgery.

Speaking during an interview with Chris on the Tubonge Podcast, Kamene emotionally recounted the moment her life took an unexpected turn.

“I was admitted to ICU. Next thing I’m taken into theatre,” Kamene said.

Kamene revealed that the moments before surgery became one of the most emotional points of her life.

“I remember as I was being wheeled in, I just told God, ‘God, I hope you know that you’re all I have now. You’re all I have,’” she said.

Kamene explained that doctors had initially planned to perform a keyhole surgery, but they quickly discovered the infection had spread badly.

“I was told I was supposed to have a keyhole surgery, but they couldn’t do that,” she said.

She added that doctors changed course after discovering the severity of the condition.

“My level of infection was so bad. They removed five litres of pus from my stomach. Five litres. You’re a jerrycan,” she said.

Kamene also said her stomach had swollen badly because of the infection.

Despite the emergency surgery and several medical tests, Kamene said doctors never identified the exact cause of the illness.

“When they were doing the surgery, they were cleaning, checking, ‘Where’s the problem? Where’s the problem?’ There was nothing,” she recalled.

She said she later underwent every possible test, but doctors still found no answers.

“Up until now, we still don’t know. I did every single test possible. Every single MRI, kila kitu. No one knows where the sepsis came from. No one knows where the peritonitis initiated from. It just happened,” Kamene said.

Sepsis is a dangerous condition that happens when the body responds severely to infection. Peritonitis is inflammation of the lining of the abdomen and often requires urgent treatment.

When host Chris asked whether she fears the illness could return, Kamene gave a distinct response that showed how the experience changed her.

“Right now, there’s very little that can scare me. Let me tell you that,” she said.
