Content creator Massage by Steve has candidly opened up about his long-running struggle with depression, revealing that he has been battling mental health challenges for several years.

In an emotional message shared with his followers, Steve spoke about the difficult cycles he has endured and why he finally decided to publicly discuss an issue that many people often suffer through in silence.

“Last year, kutoka February, I was struggling with my mental health. The previous year, the previous year. And every year, I get to enjoy a part of the year, no stress, not depressed, very happy. And a part of the year I have to pay for it, sad, confused, lost, and not having any purpose in this world,” he said.

The content creator disclosed that he had been experiencing another difficult season this year and decided it was time to share his reality with his audience rather than continue suffering in silence.

“But this year, I decided to share that with you,” he said.

Steve revealed that as his emotional state began to deteriorate, he turned to content creation as a coping mechanism. He explained that he tried to keep himself occupied by producing content from everyday experiences, hoping the creative process would help him manage his feelings.

“I was starting to get depressed, so I think as a creative. So I was trying to just create content from anything,” he explained.

One of those moments involved a smartphone that many people believed had been gifted to him. However, Steve clarified that he had actually purchased the device for himself during a particularly challenging period in his life.

“So I created fun content for the phone saying someone gifted me all that. I bought the phone for myself because at the time I was feeling a bit down,” he said.

Looking back, Steve admitted that he viewed the purchase as a way of lifting his spirits, though he later realized it was not enough to prevent the emotional struggles that followed.

“The point is, if you are in this state of feeling depressed, try to see through the day. It does not matter whether you’ve given up on everything else,” he said.

According to him, the difficult emotional periods have become somewhat predictable, with the first months of the year often proving to be the hardest.

“Happens every year, especially the first half of the year is usually very crazy for me,” he said.

The creator further disclosed that it was only in 2022 that he fully recognized what he was experiencing as depression. Before then, he often struggled with difficult emotions without understanding their cause.

“The first time I fell into depression was 2022. And like proper depression. Hizo miaka zingine sikuwa najua what I’m feeling,” he explained.
