NAIROBI, Kenya — DCP Leader Rigathi Gachagua on Wednesday hosted two aspirants from the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP) at his Wamunyoro residence, saying the meetings form part of ongoing consultations on the country’s political direction ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a statement shared on his official X account, Gachagua said he met James Muchiri Gachoki, the DCP parliamentary aspirant for Gichugu Constituency in Kirinyaga County, and Simon Maina Chege, the party’s aspirant for Kikuyu Ward Member of County Assembly (MCA) in Kiambu County.
According to Gachagua, the leaders discussed issues affecting their respective communities and the opposition’s broader political agenda.
“At Wamunyoro residence this morning, Hon James Muchiri Gachoki, DCP Aspirant Parliamentary Gichugu, Kirinyaga County and Hon. Simon Maina Chege MCA Aspirant, Kikuyu Ward, Kiambu County paid a courtesy call on me this morning,” Gachagua posted.
He said the two aspirants presented their views on what he described as the country’s “liberation cause.”
“They presented their views on the liberation cause of our Country. We discussed cross-cutting issues affecting their people and the way forward. Consultations continue,” he added.
The meeting comes as Gachagua continues a series of engagements with political leaders, aspirants and supporters aligned to the Democracy for the Citizens Party, which has intensified mobilisation following its victory in the recent Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election.
The consultations are part of wider political activities expected to shape alliances and campaign strategies as parties position themselves ahead of the 2027 General Election.
