NAIROBI, Kenya – President William Ruto’s son George Ruto appears set to expand his growing matatu operation, with new footage showing six vehicles being prepared under the 98 brand.
The video was shared on Thursday, September 17, by matatu electrician and lighting specialist @jaramba_lighting and shows the six vehicles inside a go-down undergoing upgrades.
Their colourful LED lighting was switched on during the work, illuminating the dark workshop with the customised look associated with Nairobi’s nganya culture.
Six new matatus shown in video
The footage offers a glimpse of the vehicles before they are deployed, although it does not identify the individual matatus or indicate when they will begin operating.
The caption accompanying the post simply read: “98 logistics.”
The latest footage comes shortly after the team behind George Ruto’s Raptor Family introduced 98 Logistics, a project that was first teased online in August.
At the time, several matatus were seen inside a garage being fitted with 98 branding, although details about the project’s ownership structure and operations were not publicly provided.
From Raptor Family to 98 Sacco
George Ruto launched the 98 Matatu Sacco in June 2026, according to previous reports.
The Sacco became the reported home of the growing Raptor Family fleet, whose vehicles include Raptor, Money Fest, Matrix, Mood, Baba Yaga, Manifest and Ambush.
The matatus have attracted attention for their customised designs, lighting and entertainment features, reflecting the popularity of Kenya’s nganya culture.
98 Logistics points to expansion
The emergence of 98 Logistics suggests the brand could be expanding beyond the smaller group of highly customised vehicles that initially drew public attention.
An August report on the project noted that some of the vehicles being prepared appeared different from established Raptor Family units.
However, the team had not publicly explained whether 98 Logistics would operate as a separate transport venture or form part of the existing fleet.
