NAIROBI, Kenya — The Kenya Forest Service (KFS) has partnered with youth artists from Baringo County to advance forest conservation through music and the creative arts as part of efforts to promote environmental awareness and climate action.
The engagement, held on Tuesday, brought together KFS officials and young creatives to explore how artistic expression can be used to inspire communities to protect forests, plant trees and embrace sustainable environmental practices.
Chief Conservator of Forests Alex Lemarkoko encouraged the artists to leverage their influence to champion tree growing and environmental stewardship among young people and local communities.
“Use your influence to inspire tree growing, environmental conservation and climate action,” Lemarkoko urged the artists.
The artists welcomed the initiative and pledged to work closely with KFS in raising public awareness on sustainable forest management through music, performances and other creative platforms.
The collaboration forms part of KFS’s broader strategy to engage diverse stakeholders in protecting Kenya’s forests and increasing public participation in conservation efforts.
By partnering with young creatives, the agency aims to harness the power of art and culture to communicate environmental messages, encourage tree planting and strengthen community support for sustainable forest management.
Kenya has continued to promote tree-growing initiatives as part of national efforts to increase forest cover, restore degraded ecosystems and enhance resilience against the effects of climate change.
