KPLC Lists 7 Counties to Face Power Outage on Thursday, June 26 in Delayed Notice

NAIROBI, Kenya — The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has issued a delayed public notice listing seven counties that will experience power interruptions on Thursday, June 26, due to planned maintenance works.

In a statement shared Thursday morning, KPLC apologized for the late communication and assured customers that the temporary outages are necessary for infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving service reliability.

“We regret the delay in posting today’s planned maintenance schedule. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused,” read the notice.

The affected regions and outage timelines are as follows:

1. Nairobi County

  • Area: Part of Westlands
  • Time: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Locations: NSSF, Westpark, Unga House, Muthithi Road, and adjacent areas.

2. Makueni County

  • Area: Emali to Nziu, Sultan
  • Time: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Locations: Mulala, Kithumani, Masokani, Masumba, Kilili, Matiliku, Kalamba, Upendo, and surrounding regions.

3. Busia County

  • Area: Mundika
  • Time: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Locations: Mundika Mission Hospital, Budokomi, Lwanya Girls, Matayos Polytechnic, Bumala Market, and neighboring areas.

4. Kakamega County

  • Area: Tumaini
  • Time: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Locations: Tumaini, Shikoli, Etumeiyo, and nearby customers.

5. Homa Bay County

  • Areas: Rodi, Sero, Nyandiwa, Magunga, Kijawa
  • Time: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Nyandiwa to end at 4:30 p.m.)
  • Locations: Kijawa Health Center, Ngere Orphanage, Divine Mercy, NYS Lambwe, Magunga Market, and adjacent zones.

6. Laikipia County

  • Areas: Timau, Maritati
  • Time: 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Locations: Timau Town, Kiambogo Market, Ethi Market, Siraji Farm, Sand Pro Farm, Big Flower Farm, and surrounding communities.

7. Embu County

  • Area: Karurumo Market, Kasafari
  • Time: 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
  • Locations: Karurumo Market, Kanyuambora, Kamumu Market, Murari Village, and Canon Habert.

KPLC has urged affected residents to plan accordingly and promised to restore power promptly after maintenance is completed.
