Murkomen, World Bank Officials Discuss Security, Implementation Of Isiolo-Mandera Road Project

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has pledged full collaboration with the Ministry of Roads and Transport to ensure the smooth implementation of the 750-kilometer road project linking Isiolo, Wajir, and Mandera counties.

Murkomen revealed on his X account that he had met with representatives from the World Bank and the Roads Ministry to discuss key security and administrative concerns surrounding the flagship project, which was recently launched by President William Ruto.

“As a Ministry, we pledge to collaborate with the Ministry of Roads and Transport in implementing this road flagship project,” Murkomen stated.

The Isiolo-Wajir-Mandera road is a critical infrastructure project aimed at improving connectivity in Kenya’s northeastern region, which has long suffered from poor road networks and insecurity.

The government has touted the project as a game-changer for economic development and security enhancement in the area.

However, concerns remain over security challenges, given the region’s history of banditry and instability.

The discussions with the World Bank signal efforts to ensure the project proceeds smoothly amid these challenges.
