Nameless Sets Record Straight on Secret Society Rumours

Trending

Kenyan music legend Nameless has firmly dismissed long-standing online rumours linking him to the Illuminati and alleged dark forces, brushing off the claims as baseless conspiracy theories created by people with too much time on their hands.

The veteran singer-songwriter, whose real name is David Mathenge, directly addressed the issue on social media after a fan asked him whether reports claiming he belonged to a secret society were true.

Rather than responding with anger or frustration, Nameless chose humour.

The musician laughed off the allegations using laughing emojis and made it clear that he finds the claims absurd.

Responding to the fan’s question, Nameless wrote:

“Hizi story za dark forces na illuminati mulitoanga wapi jameni! ama ni kwa sababu niliimba juu ya MAJITU! Ok ok ok, sitaimba juu ya majitu on 15th Aug, musiogope! lakini juju tunaweza imba? Ama ata hiyo ni dark forces pia!”

He accompanied the response with a light-hearted tone, mocking the assumptions behind the conspiracy theories that have followed him for years.

The singer later further dismissed the claims in Sheng, calling them “ufala tu za watu idle” — loosely translating to “foolishness from idle people.”

For many Kenyans familiar with Nameless’ career, the rumours are not entirely new.

Conspiracy theories linking the musician to secret societies have resurfaced multiple times over the last two decades, often appearing on social media platforms and online discussion spaces despite lacking any evidence.

The rumours are believed to have gained traction in the early 2000s following the tragic deaths of Nameless’ close friend and fellow music star E-Sir and rapper K-Rupt.

E-Sir died in a road accident in 2003 at the peak of his career, sending shockwaves across Kenya’s music industry. His death remains one of the most painful moments in the country’s entertainment history.

K-Rupt also passed away years later, further fueling speculation among conspiracy-minded sections of online audiences.

As Nameless continued to enjoy career longevity and commercial success, bizarre narratives emerged online falsely claiming that he had somehow sacrificed friends and colleagues in exchange for fame, wealth and a successful music career.

Such theories gradually became part of internet folklore and continued to reappear periodically despite there being no factual basis supporting them.

Nameless remains one of Kenya’s most respected musicians, having built a career spanning more than two decades.

The award-winning artist has maintained relevance through different generations of music while also growing into a family man, entrepreneur and media personality.
