Kenyan digital creator Nurse Judy has publicly defended her marriage after social media users began drawing comparisons between her relationship and the controversial television series Polygamist, prompting her to share a lengthy response on Instagram.
The outspoken influencer found herself trending online after internet users began linking parts of her personal life to storylines from the viral show, with some even assigning her and her husband fictional character identities from the series.
Nurse Judy used her Instagram Stories to directly address the criticism.
Opening her response, Nurse Judy criticized people who believed she had no right to publicly discuss the show simply because viewers had begun connecting it to her own life.
“It is absolutely diabolical how some people think I don’t have a right to comment on a TV show Polygamist,” she wrote.
She revealed that after sharing opinions about the show, blogs, forwarded videos, screenshots, and comment sections quickly filled with comparisons between her real-life marriage and fictional characters from the series.
According to Judy, online users had become so invested in the comparison that some had essentially cast her into the show.
“Apparently I’m now Joyce. In some cases I’m Matipa. My husband is Jonasi. The casting directors are working overtime,” she joked.
Nurse Judy also revisited painful chapters from her marriage, explaining that people keep weaponizing parts of her relationship history even though she and her husband have already openly addressed those struggles.
“For the umpteenth time, we owned our mistakes. We separated, not once but twice between year 2021 and 2024. We moved on. We dated other people. We hurt each other. We forgave each other. God forgave us too,” she wrote.

Judy explained that many critics continue bringing up that situation while deliberately ignoring important context.
Nurse Judy doubled down on her position and accused critics of unfairly judging her relationship while hiding their own private struggles.
“The funny thing is that some of the loudest judges online are carrying stories far messier than ours,” she wrote.
She said the difference between her and many critics is simply that her mistakes happened publicly while others keep theirs hidden from public view.
Judy then made it clear she has no intention of backing away from discussing controversial topics online simply because critics feel uncomfortable.
“But one thing you will not do is shame me into silence. I will still watch the show. I will still have opinions. I will still discuss current topics. And I will be loud as usual while at it,” she declared.
