Police Warned as Murkomen Targets Rogue Job Agencies in Eldoret

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya – Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen is cracking down hard on rogue employment agencies and fraudsters operating in Eldoret, vowing to dismantle the syndicates exploiting Kenyan youth under the guise of overseas job opportunities.

Speaking during a public security forum in Eldoret’s Central Business District, Murkomen didn’t mince words.

“There will be no sacred cows,” he said, warning that even government protection won’t shield the culprits this time. He added that President Ruto has given a clear two-week deadline to wipe out all illegal recruitment operations in the region.

Murkomen’s stern message comes amid a spike in complaints from desperate job seekers who have been conned by unlicensed agencies promising international education and employment.

He emphasized that law enforcement officers aiding these operations would also face consequences, including dismissal from the service.

“If you’re a police officer and you’re protecting conmen, your days in uniform are numbered,” Murkomen declared, drawing applause from the crowd.

But the event wasn’t just about rogue agents. The Jukwaa la Usalama (Security Forum) also shone a spotlight on the challenges facing police officers themselves.

Officers from across Uasin Gishu County raised issues ranging from stalled promotions and inadequate healthcare to poor working conditions.

Murkomen acknowledged these concerns, pledging reforms to improve their welfare and morale.

Meanwhile, Eldoret residents raised growing concerns about insecurity and rampant fraud in the town. Many called for swift government action to restore safety and public trust.

There was also a broader message from the public: listen to the youth. Several speakers urged the government to open up more dialogue with young Kenyans, especially as protests and discontent have been on the rise in recent months. They warned that ignoring these voices would only fuel further unrest.

As Murkomen targets con artists in the name of public service reform, his message was clear: the days of unchecked exploitation are over—and those clinging to power and profit at the expense of the people should start packing.
