Ruto Makes Key Appointments to State Corporations

NAIROBI, Kenya – President William Ruto has announced a new round of appointments to state corporations, naming fresh leadership to boards overseeing education and shipping.

In a gazette notice dated August 15, 2025, the President appointed John Antira Ketora as the Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of the Jomo Kenyatta Foundation (JKF) for a three-year term, effective immediately.

At the Kenya National Shipping Line, Ruto re-appointed Levi Franklin Mghalu as Non-Executive Chairperson of the Board of Directors. Mghalu, who previously held the role, will now serve another three-year term.

Meanwhile, the President named James Onyango Owino as the new Non-Executive Chairperson of the Commission for University Education (CUE).

His appointment also took effect on August 15 and will run for three years.

The appointments mark the latest changes in state corporations as the Ruto administration seeks to strengthen governance and enhance performance in key public institutions.
