Kisii Senator Richard Onyonka is mourning the death of his mother, Mama Teresia Nyaboke Omoke, who passed away on April 29, 2026, at the age of 81.

Mama Teresia died while receiving treatment at Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi, bringing sorrow to the senator, relatives, friends, and the wider Kisii community.

Her passing marks the loss of a respected matriarch whom Senator Onyonka described as the pillar of their family and a woman whose values shaped generations.

Mama Teresia Nyaboke Omoke was born on December 25, 1944. Over the decades, she became known among family members and community members as a woman of strong faith, humility, discipline, and wisdom.

In his tribute, Senator Onyonka described her as a guiding force who carried the family through both joyful and difficult moments.

He said her strength and resilience helped shape his life from childhood into adulthood, adding that she offered counsel not only to relatives but also to many people in the community who sought her advice.
