NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenyan rapper and digital creator Stivo Simple Boy has announced plans to enter elective politics in the 2027 General Election, with Kasarani emerging as one of the constituencies he is considering for an MP bid.

The Freshi Barida hitmaker revealed his political ambitions during an interview on The Manuu Show on October 3, 2026, saying he was weighing three Nairobi constituencies.

“By the way mimi nataka to vie for MP, either in Kasarani, Lang’ata or Kibera in 2027,” Stivo said.

His announcement marked a shift from his earlier plan to seek an elective position at the county level and signalled his intention to pursue a parliamentary seat instead.

Stivo had previously announced plans in May 2025 to contest a Kibra MCA seat in 2027, saying he wanted to begin his political journey at the grassroots level. He cited youth unemployment and limited access to bursaries among the issues he wanted to address.

His latest announcement now places him on a different political path as he considers a parliamentary contest.

Despite announcing his intention to vie for Parliament, Stivo has not yet settled on a political party.

Asked which party he planned to use, the musician said he was still considering his options.

“Chama sijaamua,” he said.

He also left open the possibility of running without a party.

“Labda inaweza kuwa kibinafsi,” Stivo added.

The musician also suggested that he was preparing to take his political ambitions to the ground rather than keeping them at the level of social media announcements.

Asked when he would begin campaigning, he responded:

“Tunaanza next week.”

He also indicated that pressure from members of the public had encouraged him to consider seeking office.

“Next week… but watu wengi nataka nisimame,” he said during the interview.

Two days after the initial announcement, Stivo placed greater emphasis on Kasarani.

On October 5, he addressed Kasarani residents in a social media post and unveiled a 10-point political manifesto titled “From the People, For the People.”

“My Kasarani people tuende nalo. Wakati wa kazi umewadia,” Stivo said.

His manifesto focuses heavily on youth empowerment, employment, creative industries, housing, healthcare and transparency.

Among his proposals, Stivo wants young people in the constituency to receive startup funding ranging between Sh50,000 and Sh200,000 to establish or expand businesses, creative ventures and other income-generating activities.

“Sh 50,000-200,000 startup funds for youth businesses, creatives and hustles in the constituency,” he stated.

He also proposed giving at least 60% of constituency projects to youth-owned businesses and creating opportunities for young people who lack previous government-contracting experience.

“At least 60% of constituency projects to be given to youth-owned businesses. No more ‘tender cartels’,” Stivo said.

Stivo also placed the creative industry at the centre of his proposed agenda, reflecting his own experience as a musician and digital creator.

He proposed establishing a constituency creative economy hub equipped with studios, equipment, training and opportunities to connect creatives with markets.

The proposed facility would target musicians, filmmakers, TikTokers, photographers, designers and other people working in the creative sector.

He also proposed fully funded training, internships and job placements for young people.

“Fully funded training, internships and placements for the youth. Learn a skill, get a job, or start a hustle,” he stated.

One of the more notable proposals in his manifesto involves the salary of an MP.

Stivo said he would support a performance-based approach in which an elected MP would face public scrutiny over their delivery.

“MP SALARY MUST BE PERFORMANCE-BASED. If I don’t deliver, I don’t take the full salary. Public scorecard every 3 months,” he said.

He also rejected the idea of using small cash payments to attract residents to political rallies.

“I will not give KSh500 for a rally. We invest in real opportunities that earn you KSh50,000+ monthly,” he stated.

His manifesto also proposes low-cost rental units and youth housing projects in Kasarani, Lang’ata and Kibera.

“Push for low-cost rental units and youth housing projects in Lang’ata/Kasarani/Kibera. No more rent stress,” he said.

On healthcare, Stivo proposed upgrading local clinics, providing free maternal care, expanding mental-health support and establishing a well-equipped constituency hospital.

He also promised greater transparency in the use of constituency funds.

“All constituency funds, projects and contracts will be public. No ghost projects, no family deals,” he stated.

Another proposal calls for a Youth Council that would participate in decisions involving constituency projects, bursaries and funding priorities

Stivo’s move into politics adds him to a growing list of Kenyan entertainers who have announced plans to seek elective office in 2027.

His political ambitions also build on his earlier activism around issues affecting young people. In 2025, he said he wanted to use an MCA position to address unemployment and improve access to bursaries in Kibra.
