NAIROBI, Kenya – Police officers from Rhonda Police Station have arrested two suspected members of the notorious ‘Confirm’ gang in Nakuru West, linked to a string of violent robberies in the area.
According to a report released by the Director of Criminal Investigations(DCI), the sleuths acting on a tip-off, carried out a targeted operation and apprehended John Omondi, also known as ‘Daddy,’ and Samuel Kamau, alias Pino, while allegedly in the act of robbing members of the public.
Authorities say the suspects had evaded arrest for some time before being apprehended and taken into custody.
Preliminary investigations indicate possible links between the duo and the “Confirm” gang, a criminal group blamed for a series of violent incidents in Nakuru West.
The two are also being investigated in connection with other serious offences, including murder and robbery with violence.
“Preliminary sleuthing links the duo to the infamous Confirm gang. Beyond the recent robbery, Daddy and Pino are primary suspects in a string of crimes, including: Murder and Robbery with Violence,” DCI stated.
They are being held alongside an alleged accomplice, James Nduati, also known as Jemu, who was previously arrested in relation to the same gang activities.
Detectives say investigations are ongoing as they build a case ahead of prosecution.
The National Police Service says the arrests are part of ongoing intelligence-led operations aimed at dismantling organised criminal networks across the country.
