NAIROBI, Kenya – Members of the United Opposition have launched a high-stakes political mobilization tour of Kitui County on April 22 and 23, 2026, in a calculated effort to consolidate grassroots support and reassert their influence within the national political landscape.
The delegation is led by Rigathi Gachagua of the Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP), alongside Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper, Martha Karua of the People’s Liberation Party (PLP), and Eugene Wamalwa of the Democratic Action Party.
The quartet represents a broad coalition seeking to recalibrate the opposition’s messaging and present a unified front ahead of future electoral contests.
They are joined by key political heavyweights, including Jubilee Deputy Party Leader Fred Matiang’i, Democratic Party leader Justin Muturi, and George Natembeya, the Governor of Trans Nzoia.
The visit follows their last tour of the region on February 22, 2026, when they held a high-energy rally in Kitui Town.
Meanwhile, the opposition held a similarly charged engagement in Murang’a County, where leaders launched a scathing critique of the administration of William Ruto, accusing it of systemic governance failures, weak economic stewardship, and a disconnect from the lived realities of ordinary citizens.
The ongoing tour is widely viewed as part of a broader strategy to frame the national political discourse and position the united opposition front as a credible alternative to the current regime.
