NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenyan comedian Oliver Otieno, popularly known as YY Comedian, has announced plans to tour different parts of the country to showcase government projects at various stages of development.
YY made the announcement on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, while showcasing a newly built affordable housing project under the government’s Boma Yangu programme in Milimani, Vihiga County.
“I will be going round the country showcasing projects that are complete,” YY said.
The comedian said his planned tour would not focus only on completed developments. He also intends to visit projects that are still under construction and those that have stalled.
“The same way we showcase projects, zenye zimesimama? It is the same way we are going to see projects that are complete, projects that are happening, and projects that are done,” he said.
YY said he wants Kenyans to see the projects physically and establish their progress on the ground.
“So I will be moving around the country to show us projects that are actually happening. Leo tutajua kama ni kaongo ama ni kakweli,” he added.
YY made the announcement while visiting the Milimani Affordable Housing Project in Vihiga County. The comedian filmed the development and used the visit to explain his plans to travel to other parts of Kenya.
His announcement follows weeks of social media activity in which he has visited and highlighted government infrastructure projects.YY has previously shared footage from development sites, using his platforms to show his followers what he encounters during his travels.
His latest announcement now expands that activity into a planned nationwide tour. YY said the tour would cover projects regardless of their stage of development.
The comedian said this would give Kenyans an opportunity to see the status of projects for themselves rather than depend entirely on claims made by politicians or social media users.
The announcement also comes amid criticism over YY’s recent focus on government development projects.
Some social media users have interpreted his project videos as support for President William Ruto’s administration, while YY has defended the right of Kenyans to hold different political opinions.
On September 22, the comedian questioned why people expect others to make the same political choices they make.
“Between you and me, who would you choose? Of course you would choose you. Now the problem is that you will choose you, but you also want me to choose you. So who chooses me?” YY said.
He also questioned whether demanding that another person follow one’s political preference amounted to greed.
“If you want to choose you, and I also have to choose you, are you not greedy? Isn’t that greed, surely?” he added.
