Ugandan socialite and businesswoman Zari Hassan has addressed the online frenzy surrounding her appearance, confirming that she underwent a temporal lift after days of speculation about whether she had cosmetic surgery.
Speaking in a candid video shared on social media, Zari said she was surprised that her face had become such a major topic of discussion, joking that it had become a “national discussion.”
“For some reason, my face is a whole national discussion, a whole national discussion, guys. My face is right now the talk of the town, the whole nation. Among all the things we have to talk about, it’s my face,” she said.
The reality TV star explained that while many people assumed she had undergone a full facelift, that was not the case. Instead, she revealed she had a temporal lift, a cosmetic procedure designed to subtly lift the outer corners of the eyes and eyebrows for a more youthful appearance.
Zari said she believes women should feel free to talk openly about cosmetic procedures rather than keeping them secret.
“Listen, guys, I’m not gonna gatekeep. If you have to do anything that’s gonna make you look good… I’m not gatekeeping.”
She stressed that she has no reason to hide the procedure, encouraging others to make beauty decisions that make them feel confident.
According to Zari, the dramatic look that sparked online reactions was largely due to the makeup she wore at a recent event rather than the cosmetic enhancement itself.
She explained that her longtime makeup artist, Sammy, experimented with a different technique involving a dramatic “fox eye” effect, which exaggerated the appearance of her eyes.
“The makeup was a little extra. Sammy is good, okay? He’s done most of my face beats and he is so good. But he wanted to try something new on my face… it obviously just ended up taking my eyes all the way that way.”
Addressing rumours that she had undergone extensive facial surgery, Zari firmly denied having a full facelift.
She explained that a temporal lift is significantly less invasive and only targets the area around the temples and outer eye.
“I did a temporal lift, okay? Temporal lift is around the eyes… Not a full facelift because usually full facelifts involve you being cut and all of that stuff.”
She added that now that the heavy makeup has been removed, people can better see the actual results of the procedure.
“Right now you see I’ve got the clean, beautiful… we really don’t have that effect of the makeup because the effect left.”
While acknowledging that she wanted to enhance her appearance as she gets older, Zari insisted the procedure was not about fixing something she disliked.
“One thing about me, I’m gonna tell you, even before all of this, you know I’ve been gorgeous. I’ve been a very, very beautiful woman.”
She added:
“I’m just enhancing. As we get older, things change… but I’ve always been a beautiful woman.”
Zari also pushed back against claims that she had completely altered her face through plastic surgery.
“I would never touch my face… I’ve never touched my face.”
