Former DP Blasts Murkomen After Kilifi Security Breach

Date:

NAIROBI, Kenya — Democracy for Citizens Party (DCP) leader Rigathi Gachagua has launched a scathing attack on Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen, accusing him of incompetence and demanding his removal following repeated security breaches involving President William Ruto.

Speaking after a DCP National Executive Council meeting in Nairobi on Sunday, Gachagua claimed the country’s security architecture had collapsed under Murkomen’s leadership, warning that President Ruto’s safety was now at risk.

“We are deeply concerned on the security of Mr. William Ruto as the President of Kenya,” Gachagua said.

“In as much as we want Mr. William Ruto out, we want him out through the ballot on 10th August 2027.”

The former Deputy President cited a string of incidents where President Ruto was allegedly attacked or accosted during public engagements, including in Migori, Kibra, Mombasa, Wajir and the recent Ganze incident in Kilifi County.

Gachagua blamed Murkomen for what he termed as failure to coordinate national security, branding the Interior CS “naïve, juvenile and childish.”

“The Security Chiefs have informed me in confidence that they do not know what to do with this man who is thoughtless, clueless and completely out of touch,” Gachagua claimed.

He further alleged that security officers guarding the President had gone for months without allowances, affecting morale and concentration.

The DCP leader urged President Ruto to immediately transfer Murkomen from the Interior docket, arguing that Kenya’s security sector required experienced leadership.

“Take this Murkomen to Sports docket where he belongs,” Gachagua said in one of his sharpest attacks yet on the Interior CS.
