Govt Releases Sh2.4B for April Inua Jamii Payments

NAIROBI, Kenya – The government has released Sh2.4 billion for the April 2026 Inua Jamii Cash Transfer Programme, providing relief to more than 1.2 million elderly Kenyans and persons living with severe disabilities nationwide.

In a statement issued on Thursday, April 30, 2026, via X, the Ministry of Labour and Social Protection, through the State Department for Social Protection and Senior Citizen Affairs, confirmed that disbursements had begun, with beneficiaries set to receive Sh2,000 for the April cycle.

“The ministry said payments officially began on Thursday, April 30, with each beneficiary set to receive Ksh2,000 for the April cycle.”

The ministry further indicated that the total amount released stands at Sh2,426,132,000, targeting 1,213,066 registered beneficiaries under the national programme.

“The ministry said the funds released this month amount to Sh2,426,132,000 and will benefit 1,213,066 registered members currently enrolled under the Inua Jamii national social protection programme.”

Officials emphasised that the disbursement is intended to cushion vulnerable households as economic pressures persist.

“The ministry said the payment is meant to ensure vulnerable families continue receiving direct support as the cost of living remains a major concern in many homes across the country.”
