Traffic Disrupted as Kanyadhiang’ Bridge in Kendu Bay is Temporarily Closed

Date:

HOMA BAY, Kenya — The Homa Bay County Government has announced the temporary closure of the Kanyadhiang’ Bridge in Kendu Bay to allow for urgent repairs on the approach slab.

The repairs, which commenced on June 14, are being undertaken by the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA), following structural concerns raised about the access route to the bridge.

However, officials have assured road users that the bridge’s main structure remains intact and safe.

“We would like to assure all road users that while repair works are being carried out on the approach slab, the bridge’s main structure remains completely safe and stable,” said Governor Gladys Wanga in a statement.

KeNHA has already deployed repair teams to the site, with the agency working to restore traffic flow as swiftly as possible.

In the meantime, motorists have been advised to use an alternative route.

Those traveling towards Kendu Bay should follow the diversion through Goshen Hotel, Oluch Intake Bridge, and Nyangajo Primary School, reconnecting to the main road via Obama Road.

Road users from the opposite direction will follow the reverse path.

Traffic police and marshals have been stationed along the diversion route to guide motorists and ensure minimal disruption.

The county government has apologized for the inconvenience and urged residents to exercise patience during the repair period.

Normal traffic flow is expected to resume once works are complete.
