NAIROBI, Kenya – Kenyan actor Malik Lemmy has opened up about a deeply personal moment in his life after recently reconnecting with his father — an experience he says marks the beginning of healing his “inner child.”

Taking to Instagram, the former Machachari star shared an emotional video capturing a heartwarming reunion in Seattle, US, showing him seated in a car beside the man he identified as his father.

In the clip, Lemmy reflected on the long and emotional journey that led to their reunion.

According to the actor, the moment had been decades in the making.

“It’s been decades. All the close ones know how much I prayed for this moment ever since I was a kid,” he wrote in the video caption.

“My mum has been the greatest gift in my life. I can’t wait to experience my father now.”

Now 26 years old, Lemmy said the opportunity to finally build a relationship with his father feels like a major milestone in his life, noting that no one is ever too old to reconnect with a parent.

In a lengthy message shared on his Instagram Stories, the actor revealed that his parents separated many years ago, leaving his mother to raise him while also taking on responsibilities typically associated with both parents.

Growing up, Lemmy said he often wished he had a complete family setup and the chance to learn directly from his father how to navigate life as a man.

However, despite the absence, he expressed deep gratitude for his mother, acknowledging the sacrifices she made to raise him.

“My parents parted ways years ago. I wished to have all my parents come together for parents’ day — having a complete family set up or being taught how to be a man by my father,” he shared.

The actor also addressed the pressures of growing up in the public eye after gaining fame at a young age through his role in Machachari.

While many people assumed his life was perfect, Lemmy said the reality behind the scenes was far more complex.

He revealed that questions about his father frequently came up whenever he posted photos with his mother and fellow cast member Mollyk, something he said often reopened emotional wounds.

“I’ve grown up famous but identity was always a struggle. People would ask where my father was whenever I posted pictures with my mum and Mollyk,” he wrote.

Lemmy further urged fans to stop comparing the lives of former Machachari cast members, explaining that each of them has gone through different experiences while growing up in the spotlight.

“Only a few people around me can tell you the truth. Kindly give my ex castmates grace because everyone heals differently,” he said.

He concluded by describing the reunion with his father as the beginning of a new chapter in his life — one focused on healing, understanding, and appreciating family.

“Finally, this is me healing,” Malik Lemmy wrote.
