MACHAKOS, Kenya — Kenya Power Foundation has supported Yatta Special School with the construction of a new classroom to address the institution’s growing need for learning space.
The facility is expected to provide learners and teachers with a safer and more conducive environment as the school continues to expand.
Yatta Special School started with 25 learners but has since grown to 62, increasing pressure on its existing facilities.
The school currently has seven teachers supporting learners across its regular and special school sections, making it an institution that caters to children with different educational needs.

New Classroom To Ease Space Constraints
The classroom constructed with support from Kenya Power Foundation will increase the school’s available learning space and enable it to accommodate its growing population.
The additional facility is also expected to provide a more comfortable setting for lessons and other school activities.
The project comes as the institution continues to grow from its beginnings as a small learning community into a school serving more learners and responding to diverse educational needs.

Education Investment
Beyond addressing the immediate need for additional classroom space, the project forms part of Kenya Power Foundation’s community initiatives aimed at supporting education and improving learning environments.
The new classroom is expected to give learners more room to concentrate on their studies, develop their abilities and participate in school life.
For Yatta Special School, the facility marks another step in efforts to provide an environment where learners can access education in suitable and supportive surroundings.
