Kenyan singer-songwriter Bridget Blue is celebrating a major milestone after her album Rhythm & Blue (RNB) entered the “For Your GRAMMY® Consideration” process in the Best Progressive R&B Album category ahead of the 69th Annual Grammy Awards.

The four-time All Africa Music Awards (AFRIMA) nominee announced the development on Instagram on October 12, 2026, describing it as a deeply personal moment after putting her experiences and emotions into the project.

“This one means a lot. 💙😭🙏🏾

“Rhythm & Blue (RNB) is officially For Your GRAMMY® Consideration for Best Progressive R&B Album.

“I made this album from such an honest place, and seeing it reach this stage is something I’m truly grateful for. I don’t even have words!!

“Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey, from the music to the people who have supported and believed in it.

“And a special thank you to everyone on my team 🙏🏾”

Her message highlighted the personal significance of the album and acknowledged the people who helped bring it to life, from its creation to the support it has received from listeners.

The announcement places Rhythm & Blue among the recordings being put forward for consideration in one of the Grammy Awards’ R&B categories. However, the development does not mean the album has secured an official nomination.

Released on March 31, 2026, Rhythm & Blue features 12 tracks that blend contemporary R&B and soul with English and Swahili songwriting.

The album includes collaborations with two established Kenyan singers. Bien features on “I Choose You”, while Nikita Kering’ joins Bridget Blue on “Mimi Na Wewe”.

The remaining songs are “Ngozi Kama Jua”, “Ni Wewe”, “Mbuzi”, “Sober”, “9 to 5”, “Waters of My Enemies”, “Always Mine”, “Set Me Free”, “Kuna Yule” and “Umbrella”.

The project explores themes of love, relationships, personal reflection and freedom, using different moods and musical approaches across its tracklist.

Its collaborations also bring together artists with distinct styles within Kenya’s contemporary music scene. Bien has built an international audience through his solo work and his time with Sauti Sol, while Nikita Kering’ has established herself as a singer and songwriter known for her R&B and soul influences.

The phrase “For Your Grammy Consideration” is used during the awards process to promote eligible recordings to members of the Recording Academy.

Artists, record labels and other industry participants use these campaigns to draw attention to albums and songs ahead of voting. The consideration stage is distinct from an official nomination, which follows the Academy’s screening and voting procedures.

The Best Progressive R&B Album category recognises R&B-based albums that demonstrate innovation through production, experimentation, unconventional song structures or influences from different musical styles.

Previous winners include artists such as SZA, Steve Lacy and Thundercat. At the 68th Annual Grammy Awards in 2026, Durand Bernarr won the category for his album BLOOM.

The 69th Annual Grammy Awards will recognise eligible recordings released during the applicable period from August 31, 2025, to August 28, 2026.

First-round voting runs from October 12 to October 22, 2026, while the Recording Academy is scheduled to announce the official nominees on November 16.

The awards ceremony will take place on February 7, 2027.
