Content creator Chantelle Petit has made it into the final 50 candidates competing for a chance to become Snoop Dogg’s international ice cream taster.

Petit shared the news on Instagram, posting a video showing her reaction after learning that she had advanced in the global recruitment process for Dr. Bombay Ice Cream, the frozen dessert brand co-founded by Snoop Dogg.

“If you were looking for a sign to bet on yourself today, this is it!” Petit wrote.

“I’m so grateful to be part of the final 50! Thank you to all who supported me when I posted my video,” she added.

Petit also thanked Snoop Dogg, Dr. Bombay and global hiring platform Deel, which is overseeing the recruitment process.

“Can’t wait for the next steps!!! I’m still processing guys!” she wrote.

Her selection comes weeks after she submitted her application for the unusual role, which attracted applicants from around the world.

Before reaching the final 50, Petit shared her application video online as part of the recruitment campaign.

She introduced her application as an opportunity to step outside her comfort zone, telling her followers she had decided to “bet on myself and do it scared.”

Snoop Dogg and Dr. Bombay launched the search in August through a partnership with Deel. The company advertised the position as a three-month independent contractor engagement paying $10,000 per month, bringing the total contract value to $30,000.

The role is open to applicants worldwide and does not require formal culinary experience. Instead, Dr. Bombay said it was looking for someone curious about food and culture, comfortable creating content and able to identify emerging food and flavour trends.

The successful candidate will taste and assess ice cream, track food trends across different markets, share ideas with the Dr. Bombay team and help inform new flavours and campaigns.

The role also involves some travel and regular interaction with the company.

The International Ice Cream Taste Tester position quickly went viral after Snoop Dogg announced the opportunity. Deel said the successful applicant would work with the Dr. Bombay team to explore flavours and trends from different parts of the world.

Applicants were also expected to demonstrate strong social instincts and the ability to create social-first content. Snoop’s team will be involved in reviewing the shortlisted candidates, while the rapper is expected to personally contact the eventual winner.

The campaign attracted more than 200,000 applications from 133 countries during the early stages of recruitment, according to reporting on the selection process. Deel subsequently planned to narrow the pool to a final 50 before selecting a smaller group to meet the Dr. Bombay team.

Deel’s official campaign page now confirms that applications have closed and says the team is selecting from thousands of submissions.

Petit’s shortlist announcement also revealed another Kenyan connection to the global competition.

Zawadi Nyong’o, daughter of Kisumu Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o and sister to Oscar-winning actress Lupita Nyong’o, commented on Petit’s Instagram post to congratulate her.

“Congratulations!!! I did too 😊 That means there’s at least 2 Kenyans in the final race. Good luck!” Nyong’o wrote.

Her comment means Petit and Nyong’o have both publicly confirmed their places among the final 50.

The two Kenyans now join a group of candidates from different parts of the world competing for the three-month opportunity.

The next stage will determine which candidates progress from the final 50 to the smaller group that will engage directly with the Dr. Bombay team.

The recruitment campaign has placed a strong emphasis on personality, curiosity, cultural awareness and social-media storytelling.
