Tanzanian Bongo Flava singer Harmonize has confirmed that his relationship with actress Frida Kajala has ended, bringing another chapter of their highly publicised on-and-off romance to a close.
Harmonize broke his silence on the relationship during an interview in Tanzania while discussing his latest album. The singer revealed that he and Kajala had already been apart for about three months but said he had deliberately chosen not to speak publicly about the separation.
“Mimi na aliyekuwa mwenzangu hatuko pamoja. It has been three months, and I am not proud of that; that is why I have been silent and did not want to talk about it,” Harmonize said.
His comments confirm that the couple separated around June 2026, following their latest reconciliation, which had attracted considerable attention across East Africa.
The latest breakup marks another separation in a relationship that has repeatedly moved between romance and separation.
Harmonize and Kajala appeared to be giving their relationship another serious chance, with the singer making grand romantic gestures and proposing to her again.
Harmonize said he did not immediately announce the separation because he was uncomfortable discussing the matter publicly. The singer also appeared conscious of the timing of his announcement, particularly as he was promoting his new music.
He explained that he did not want people to interpret his relationship problems as a publicity strategy for his album. Instead, he waited until he was ready to acknowledge that the relationship had ended.
His decision to remain silent for several months allowed speculation to circulate over the status of his relationship with Kajala, particularly because neither had immediately issued a formal breakup announcement.
The history between Harmonize and Kajala has been marked by dramatic reconciliations and public declarations of affection.
Their first relationship in 2020 and 2021 attracted significant attention in Tanzania before ending amid controversy.
The couple later reunited in 2022, with Harmonize making several public gestures to win Kajala back. Their second attempt eventually ended in December 2022.
For several years, they maintained separate lives, although Harmonize continued to speak about Kajala and the influence their relationship had on his music.
In May 2025, for instance, Harmonize dismissed rumours that they had reunited after the two were seen interacting warmly at an event. At the time, he insisted they were not back together and described them as adults who remained on good terms.
That position changed later in the year when rumours of another reconciliation began circulating. By December 2025, the former lovers had rekindled their romance, setting the stage for their third attempt at a relationship.
While Harmonize has now publicly confirmed the separation, Kajala has not, at the time of publication, publicly detailed what led to the latest breakup.
The actress has previously been open about her relationship with Harmonize, including their earlier separations and reconciliations.
Harmonize also acknowledged the unusual nature of their relationship, noting that he had been with Kajala for longer than any of his other partners.
